The Pathfinder

I have been quietly working on something for a while now. My first photo book, “The Pathfinder.” And this is where it begins.

This photograph was taken on a stretch of highway cutting through the heart of a county road in Montana. A road that curves just enough to remind you that you cannot see what is coming, flanked by golden plains and mountains sitting quietly in the distance. The sky is that particular shade of dusk that makes everything feel both vast and still. It is a simple image, and yet it speaks to me in ways that go beyond the frame. Something in it feels less like a photograph and more like a feeling. Of movement. Of searching. Of not yet knowing what lies ahead, but walking toward it anyway.

That feeling is what this book is about.

This book is about my journey so far, and the ongoing process of becoming. As I'm working on this book, I find myself thinking about what it means to search. To not quite know who you are yet, but to keep moving anyway. This is my story so far: of growing up between worlds, of picking up a camera and slowly realizing it was the first thing that helped me make sense of myself. Of learning that identity is not something you find all at once, but something you build, frame by frame, step by step.

Photography did something unexpected for me. It slowed me down. It taught me to stop and question: what is actually here? What am I not seeing? Every time I raise a camera, I am making a conscious decision to pay attention, to say that this moment, this light, this person, this place, matters enough to hold onto. Over time, I started turning that same attention inward. And that is where the journey began.

The photographs in this book aren't just images. They're footsteps. Each one sits at a point on a road I'm still walking, a record of who I was when I pressed the shutter, what I was searching for, what I was beginning to understand. Some taken in moments of clarity, others in the fog of doubt. All of them raw, honest, and pure.

We're all, in our own way, in the process of becoming. None of us have it fully figured out. We are all carrying questions we do not yet have answers to, moving through time with more uncertainty than we like to admit. That isn't weakness, but what it means to be human.

This is just my version of that road. What's yours? I hope this book finds you somewhere along yours, and maybe, just maybe, inspires you to pick up a camera, a pen, or whatever feels like yours, and start documenting the journey.

The Pathfinder is currently in progress. More soon...
